The West 1 Community Schools Team is part of the Vancouver School Board. Here at the West 1 CST works on promoting literacy development, social responsibility and student engagement at four high schools: Magee, Point Grey, Churchill, and Hamber, and eighteen elementary schools.
Our team collaborates with diverse community partners to create leadership opportunities for youth and children during out of school time (after school, weekends, and summers).
We aim to provide our student youth leaders with opportunities to develop and practice their leadership skills. This helps to positively influence our emerging “global citizens” by building their capacity to act responsibly in the world. All secondary school student volunteers receive High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development training and certification.
Representing the West 1 CST on this blog is Sarah Tracz (Programmer for the Hamber Hub) and Ted Chu (a full time intern from Langara College).
